Tha Homosexual Offences (Northern Ireland) Order 1982, No. 1536 (N.I. 19), is an Order in Cooncil whilk decriminalised homosexual ects atween consentin men in Norlin Airlan. United Kingdom (1981), whilk ruled that Norlin Airlan's criminalisation o homosexual ects atween consentin men wus a violation o Airticle 8 o tha European Convention on Human Richts.[1]

Norlin Airlan wus tha last airt o tha Unitit Kinrick tae decriminalise homosexual ects in private. Tha homosexual age o consent fixed bi tha Order (21) wus heicher than tha heterosexual age o consent in tha rest o Norlin Airlan – whilk haed bin set at 17 fur decades – but tha age wus ilka tae tha Scots (as o 1980) an Inglis (as o 1967) laa on homosexuality. Tha ages o consent fur homosexual an heterosexual ects in Norlin Airlan wur eventually equalised at 17 bi tha Pairlament o tha Unitit Kinrick wi tha passin o tha Sexual Offences (Amendment) Act 2000.

Tae bring Northern Ireland in line wi tha rest o tha Unitit Kinrick, tha Sexual Offences (Northern Ireland) Order 2008[2] reduced tha age o consent (baith straight an gay) tae 16.[3]
