The Naitional Emblem o the Democratic Fowkrepublic o Korea bears the design o a hydroelectric power plant under Baekdu Mountain and bearing the beaming light of a five-pointed red star, with ears of rice forming an oval frame, bound with a red ribbon bearing the inscription "The Democratic People's Republic of Korea" in Hangul characters.

The emblem follows the basic design guidelines o the emblem o the Soviet Union adoptit in mony ither kintras, which clearly indicates the relations atween the communist ideology an the foondation o the kintra at the beginnin o the Cold War.
