Coalcomán de Vázquez Pallares is a municipality locatit in the soothwast region o the Mexican state o Michoacán. The municipality haes a aurie o 2,881.57 square kilometres (4.89% o the surface o the state)^[1] an is bordered tae the north bi the state o Jalisco an the municipality o Tepalcatepec, tae the east bi Arteaga an Aguililla, tae the sooth bi Aquila, an tae the wast bi Chinicuila. The municipality haed a population o 18,156 inhabitants accordin tae the 2005 census.^[2] Its municipal seat is the ceety o the same name.

Coalcomán is a wird o Nahuatl oreegin that means "Snake" or "Snake wi Haunds", accordin tae some authors.^[3]
