eeditCipher System wis established in 1996 unner the name Eternal Grief. Efter releasin three demos atween 1998 tae 2000, they chyngit their name tae Cipher System in 2001.
Wi the demo Eyecon, Cipher System wis signed tae Lifeforce Records, an in 2003 they released a single cried Promo 2003. In Juin 2004, they relased a split EP wi By Night an o 2 November o that year they released their debut studio album Central Tunnel Eight.
Efter this album, it wis pretty quiet in the meantime for the baund. Housomeivver, bassist Henric Carlsson, annooncit his depairtur in Julie 2005, in order tae concentrate on his wirk at Nightrage. Schöldström left the baund in the same year an aw. Ance there, in Mairch 2008, the introduction o a new sangster Andreas Solveström as well as in Mey 2008 Andreas Allenmark wis annooncit as the new guitarist.
In Mairch 2009, the drummer Emil Frisk as the successor o Pontus Andersson wis presentit. Sangster Andreas Solveström in Juin 2009 for lack o time being excretit acause he wants tae devote hissel tae his twa ither baund projects. His wis replacit bi Carl Obbel in 2010. Wi this lineup, Cipher System released their seicont studio album, Communicate the Storms on 9 September 2011.
