Betta /ˈbɛtə/ is a lairge genus o smaa, eften colourfu, freshwatter ray-finned fishes in the gourami faimily (Osphronemidae). The type species is B. picta, the spottit betta. Bi far the best kent Betta species, houevir, is B. splendens, the Siamese fichtin fish.^{[citation needit]}
