History
eeditBaranoa wis a indigenous dounset locatit close tae the Big Creek (Arroyo Grande) when the Spainyie conquers unner the commandament o Don Pedro de Heredia discovered it in 1534.
In October 1543, it wis commendit bi the Spaingie Croun tae Hernando Dávila. Further commendements wur gien tae Inés de Mendoza (1556), Hernando De la Salas (1568) an José De las Salas (1609). The Viceroy Sebastián de Eslava order a reformation o the toun atween 1744 an 1745. As a consequence, 39 Spaingie faimilies made their hame in Baranoa, creatin the Pairish o Santa Ana o Baranoa.
On 23 October 1856, it wis creatit the municipality o Baranoa, based on the nummer o inhabitants the pairish haed, an its level o development. The municipality category, as well as its boondars, wis ratifee'd on 16 Dizember 1964.
Economy
