Efter being released frae West Bromwich Albion as a teenager, he played for non-league side Hednesford Town afore turnin professional at Stockport County in 2003, later becomin their caiptain. In Mairch 2008, he wis loaned tae Swansea City, an efter helpin them win League One, signed for a club record £400,000. He amassed 352 appearances for the Swans, scorin 14 goals. He aided them in their promotion tae the Premier League an their victory in the 2013 Football League Cup Final. In August 2016, he signed a three-year contract wi fella Premier League side Everton.

Born in Ingland, Williams qualifies tae play for Wales throu his maternal grandfaither. He made his debut for them in Mairch 2008 an haes sin earnt ower 75 caps. He caiptained the team at UEFA Euro 2016 whaur The Dragons made it aw the wey tae the semi-final.
