History
eeditThe precise date that the toun wis foondit is unkent. Housomeivver, it existit well afore the Spaingie conquered the continent. In 1524, Pedro de Alvarado conquered the region kent as Soconusco, In 1526 the region formit pairt o the Spaingie colonization an in 1529 wis annexed tae México. In 1774 it wis formit as pairt o the toun o Escuintla. In 1861, it haed mair nor 100 inhabitants. On 10 November 1947, César A. Lara, govrenor o the state, declared it an offeecial municipality.
