Zuidhorn ([ˈzœy̆tɦɔrn] ( listen)) is a municipality an a toun in the northeastren Netherlands. Due tae a municipal reoganisation in 1990, Zuidhorn wis extendit whan it mergit wi, tho no pheesically connectit tae Oldehove, Grijpskerk an Aduard. It is a pleasant toun, which depends lairgely on the ceety o Groningen. A railwey line, operatit bi Arriva, connects the toun wi Leeuwarden in Friesland an Groningen.

Transport eedit

Zuidhorn haes twa train stations: Zuidhorn and Grijpskerk. At least ance an oor a train runs atween Groningen an Leeuwarden. On weekdays, trains stop twice an hour in Zuidhorn. Till 1991 thare uised tae be a third station on this line, Visvliet.

Natur eedit

In the centre o Zuidhorn, lees a lairge, pairtly firthit pairk cried "Johan Smit Park". It affers a wide variety o recreation, open tae the public, based on trails. The "Quick Siller S" is the main sport hawl, hostin mony activities such as a runnin clubs, an ither sports. Nearbi, the pairk haes numerous soccer fields an a playgrund. For maist o the year, docile heichland cattle roam the pairk.

Wierden eedit

Thare is a dence concentration o terps, better kent as wierden, airtificial dwellin hills, in the aurie Middag-Humsterland. In 1995, this collection o wierden wis submittit tae UNESCO's leet o Warld Heritage Steids. The property is currently on the tentative leet.[1][2]
