Alang wi the North Aegean, it is supervisit bi the Decentralized Admeenistration o the Aegean based at Piraeus. The caipital o the region is situatit in Ermoupoli on the island o Syros.
Till the Kallikratis reform, the region consistit o the twa prefecturs o the Cyclades (caiital: Ermoupoli) an the Dodecanese (caipital: Rhodes). Syne 1 Januar 2011 it is dividit intae 13 regional units, formit aroond major islands:[1]
