Rhondda Cynon Taf (Welsh pronunciation: [ˈr̥ɔnða ˈkənɔn ˈtaːv]), or RCT, is a coonty burgh in the Sooth Wales Valleys o Wales. It consists o 3 valleys: the Rhondda Valley, Cynon Valley an Taff-Ely Valley. Results frae the 2001 census showed 21.1% o its 233,700 residents wur able tae speak, read, write or unnerstaund the Welsh leid.[1]
The coonty burgh borders Merthyr Tydfil an Caerphilly tae the east, Cairdiff an the Vale o Glamorgan tae the sooth, Bridgend an Neath Port Talbot tae the wast an Powys tae the north. Its principal touns are - Aberdare, Llantrisant wi Talbot Green an Pontypridd, wi ither key settlements/touns being - Ferndale, Hirwaun, Llanharan, Mountain Ash, Porth, Tonypandy, Tonyrefail an Treorchy. Rhondda Cynon Taf is the seicont-maist populous local authority aurie in Wales.
The maist populous toun in Rhondda Cynon Taf is Aberdare (Welsh: Aberdâr) wi a population o 31,705 (2001 Census), follaeed bi Pontypridd with 29,781.
