Polton is a veelage locatit in Lasswade parish, Midlothian, Scotland, anciently a superiority o the Ramsay faimily, cadets o Dalhousie. In 1618 David Ramsay o Polton wis in possession. (See: Analecta Scotica, Edinburgh, 1834).

Polton wis the residence o the writer Thomas de Quincey till his daith in 1859.[1]
