The Pinwheel Galaxy (kent as Messier 101, M101 or NGC 5457 an aw) is a face-on spiral galaxy distanced 21 million licht-years (sax megaparsecs)^[3] away in the constellation Ursa Major, first discovered bi Pierre Méchain on Mairch 27, 1781, an communicatit tae Charles Messier wha verified its poseetion for inclusion in the Messier Catalogue as ane o its final entries.
