In auncient Greek releegion, Nemesis (/ˈnɛməsɪs/; Greek: Νέμεσις), cried Rhamnousia/Rhamnusia ("the goddess o Rhamnous") an aw at her sanctuar at Rhamnous, north o Marathon, wis the spirit o divine retribution against those who succumb tae hubris (arrogance afore the gods).
