The Unitit Naitions Interim Admeenistration Mission in Kosovo (UNMIK) formally re-established the municipality o Mališevo in Julie 2000. Durin the war, a nummer o atrocities wur committit bi baith Albanie an Serbie forces. Ane such incident occurred in Mališevo, the execution o nae fewer than seiven Serbie men, namit the Mališevo Massacre. The UN-run Office on Missing Persons and Forensics began the excavations at the steid in Mey 2005.
