Sparta

Sparta (Doric Greek: [Σπάρτα, Spártā] ; Attic Greek: [Σπάρτη, Spártē] ) or Lacedaemon (/ˌlæsəˈdiːmən/; [Λακεδαίμων, Lakedaímōn] ) wis a prominent ceety-state in auncient Greece, situatit on the banks o the Eurotas River in Laconia, in sooth-eastren Peloponnese.
