Knyaz or knez is a heestorical Slavic teetle, uised baith as a ryal an noble teetle, uisually translatit intae Inglis either as Prince or less commonly as Duke, an in Laitin soorces as comes or princeps, but the wird wis oreeginally derived frae the Proto-Germanic kuningaz (king).[1]

Till Boris I (852–889) the teetle o the Bulgarie monarchs wis Knyaz (кнѣзъ). His son, Simeon I (893–927) adoptit the teetle Tsar (Emperor) which acame the teetle o the subsequent Bulgarie rulers.
