eeditThe toun is locatit on Route 79, 2.5 kilometre (1.6 mi) north o Route 11, bi the stream Arroyo de la Virgen. Juist athort the stream o it, is the toun Veinticinco de Agosto o Florida Depairtment, an 5 kilometre (3.1 mi) tae its sootheast is the ceety Santa Lucía o Canelones Depairtment.

eeditIt wis declared a "Pueblo" (veelage) bi Decree o 23 October 1875.[1] On 15 October 1963, its status wis elevatit tae "Villa" (toun) bi the Act o Ley Nº 13.167.[2]
