Garelochhead railwey station (Scots Gaelic: Ceann a' Gheàrrloch) is a railwey station serrin the veelage o Garelochheid, on the Gare Loch, in Scotland. This station is on the West Highland Line an is a mairch station for SPT.

The station wis laid oot wi a crossin loop an an island platform. Thare war lies on baith sides, an a turntable on the wast side o the line. Till the 1960s, the station wis sert bi a local shuttle service atween Craigendoran an Arrochar & Tarbet in addeetion tae main line trains tae Fort William an Mallaig. Latterly operatit bi a Wickham diesel railbus, it fell veectim tae the Beeching Axe in Juin 1964.[4]
The lie on the east side wis remuived in 1983. On 15 Februar 1987, the crossin loop wis altered tae richt-haund runnin. The oreeginal Doun platform haes sicweys become the Up platform, an vice versa. The change wis made tae simplify shuntin at this station, bi remuivin the need tae haund-pump the train-operatit loop pynts tae aiccess the lie.[citation needit]
Signalling
eeditFrae the time o its appenin in 1894, the West Highland Railway wis wrocht ootthrou bi the electric taiken system. Garelochhead signal box, whit haed 18 levers, wis situatit on the island platform.[citation needit]
The semaphore seegnals war remuived on 2 Februar 1986 tae mak for the introduction o Radio Electronic Token Bloc] (RETB) bi British Rail. The RETB, whit is controlled frae a Signalling Centre at Banavie railwey station, wis commissioned atween Helensburgh Upper an Upper Tyndrum on 27 Mairch 1988.[citation needit]
