This amunts tae 8.2% o the state's population.[3] The municipality's population density is 5,661.38 inhabitants per square kilometre (14,662.9/sq mi).[4]

The mayor o the Francisco Linares Alcántara Municipality is Raiza Márquez, electit on 23 November 2008 wi 56% o the vote.[5] She replacit Hugo R. Peña A. shortly efter the elections. The municipality is dividit intae three pairishes; Capital Francisco Linares Alcántara, Francisco de Miranda (separatit frae Capital Francisco Linares Alcantara pairish effective 30 Januar 1995), an Monseñor Feliciano González (separatit frae Francisco de Miranda pairish effective 16 Dizember 1997).[2]
