Ermua is a toun in the Durangaldea comarca o the province o Biscay in northren Spain. It is situatit in a steep-sidit valley beside the Río Ego, a tributar o the Deba River. Acause o the steep, irregular terrain, biggin space is limitit, an Ermua is ane o the maist densely populatit touns in the Basque kintra. Tae the north o Ermua lees the municipality o Mallabia, tae the east lees Eibar an tae the sooth lees Zaldibar.[1]

Eibar is a lairger toun which lees juist athort the provincial border, in the province o Gipuzkoa, the twa touns shapin a single urban aurie.[2] Ermua haes grown greatly in size durin the 1960s an 1970s an acts as a dormitory toun tae Eibar, baith o thaim bein industrial touns. Ermua an Eibar are linkit bi the N-634 an share a common exit frae the Autopista AP-8 (AP-8), the toll road that crosses the Basque Kintra, an connects Bilbao wi the French Border. Ermua an Eibar are connectit bi the narrae gauge railwey an aw that runs frae Bilbao tae San Sebastián. Historic biggins in Ermua include the Kirk o Santiago Apóstol, an unusual Renaissance biggin wi a fine bell touer, the Baroque Valdespina Palace, which is nou the Toun Haw, an the saxteent century Lobiano Palace.[2]
