William Daniel McCafferty (14 October 1946 – 8 Novemmer 2022[1]) wis a sangster an sangwriter best kent as the lead sangster o the Scottish hard rock band Nazareth frae its fundin in 1968 till his retirement frae tourin wi the band in 2013.[2][3]

McCafferty wis born in Dunfaurlin, Fife, on 14 October 1946[4] an attendit St Margaret's Schuil.[5] He jynt the Shadettes, a local kiver group, in 1965, jynin bassist Pete Agnew an drummer Darrell Sweet. In 1968, whan Manny Charlton jynt as heid guitarist, the group chynged thair name tae Nazareth, efter the toun in Pensylvanie.[5]
