The oreegins o the banner o Senegal (French: Drapeau du Sénégal) lee in the umwhile Mali Federation, whose banner wis identical, spare for a stylizit black silhouette in the central section. It bears the Pan-African colours. The banner in its modren form wis offeecially adoptit on August 20, 1960.
