History

The auldest kent banners o Bahrain wur plain reid. In 1820, Bahrain signed a treaty wi the Unitit Kinrick, an a white stripe wis addit tae the banner tae indicate the truce. In 1932, a serrated edge wis addit tae distinguish the banner o Bahrain frae those o its neighbours.[1]

The banner oreeginally haed twintie-aicht white pynts, but this wis reduced tae aicht in 1972.[1] In 2002 the nummer o triangles wis again reduced tae five, sae that each o the pynts coud staund for ane o the Five Pillars o Islam.[2]
