Artturi Ilmari Virtanen (Finnish: [ˈɑrtːuri ˈilmɑri ˈʋirtɑnen] ( listen); 15 Januar 1895 – 11 November 1973) wis a Finnish chemist an recipient o the 1945 Nobel Prize in Chemistry.

He inventit AIV silage which improved milk production an a method o preservin butter, the AIV saut, which led tae increased Finnish butter exports.[1]
