van der Waals force

In pheesical chemistry, the van der Waals forces (or van der Waals' interaction), named efter Dutch scientist Johannes Diderik van der Waals, is the sum o the attractive or repulsive forces atween molecules (or atween pairts o the same molecule) ither than those due tae covalent bonds, or the electrostatic interaction o ions wi ane anither, wi neutral molecules, or wi charged molecules.[1]
