It is the northmaist Greek island, an 12t lairgest bi aurie. Thasos is the name o the lairgest toun o the island (kent as Limenas Thasou, "Harbour o Thasos") an aw, situatit at the northren side, opposite the mainland an aboot 10 kilometre (6 mile) frae Keramoti.
