It is a major rail junction, locatit on the strategic east-west connection frae Lwów tae Kraków. An aa, frae Tarnów twa addeetional lines stem - a soothwards main line tae the Slovak border via Stróże, as well as a minor northwards line tae Szczucin (nou defunct).
