Sophie Dorothea o Celle (15 September 1666 – 13 November 1726), wis the repudiated wife o future Keeng George I o Great Britain, an mither o George II. The union with her first cousin wis an arranged mairiage o state, instigated bi the machinations o his mither, Electress Sophia o Hanover. She is best remembered for her alleged affair with Philip Christoph von Königsmarck that led tae her being imprisoned in the Castle of Ahlden for the last thirty years o her life.
