John the Baptist (Ebreu: יוחנן המטבילYokhanan HaMatbil, Auncient Greek: Ἰωάννης ὁ βαπτιστής, Iōánnēs ho baptistḗs or Ἰωάννης ὁ βαπτίζων, Iōánnēs ho baptízōn,[5][7][8][9][10] Coptic: ⲓⲱⲁⲛⲛⲏⲥ ⲡⲓⲡⲣⲟⲇⲣⲟⲙⲟⲥ or ⲓⲱ̅ⲁ ⲡⲓⲣϥϯⲱⲙⲥ,[11] Arabic: يوحنا المعمدان[11][12][13]; late 1st century BC – 28–36 AD) wis a Jewish itinerant preacher[14] in the early first century AD.
