Ernst I, Duke o Saxe-Gotha, cried "Ernst the Pious" (25 December 1601 – 26 Mairch 1675), wis a duke o Saxe-Gotha an Saxe-Altenburg. The duchies were later merged intae Saxe-Gotha-Altenburg.

Mairiage

In Altenburg on 24 October 1636, Ernst mairit Princess Elisabeth Sophie o Saxe-Altenburg. As a result o this mairiage Saxe-Gotha and Saxe-Altenburg were unified, when the last duke of the line (Elisabeth's cousin) died childless in 1672. Ernst an Elisabeth Sophie haed issue.
