Emil Zátopek (Czech pronunciation: [ˈɛmɪl ˈzaːtopɛk] ( listen); 19 September 1922 – 22 November 2000) wis a Czechoslovak lang-distance rinner best kent for winnin three gowd medals at the 1952 Simmer Olympics in Helsinki. He wan gowd in the 5,000 metres an 10,000 metres rins, but his feenal medal cam whan he decidit at the last meent tae compete in the first marathon o his life.[2]
