Duke o Aosta

In the mid-13t century the Haly Roman Emperor, Frederick II, made the Coonty o Aosta a duchy; its airms were carried in the Savoyard coat of arms until the Italian unification in 1870. The region remained part o Savoy lands, with the exception o a French occupation, 1539—1563.
