Byron Bay is a beachside toun locatit in the far-northeastren corner o the state o New Sooth Wales, Australie. It is locatit 772 kilometre (480 mi) north o Sydney an 165 kilometre (103 mi) sooth o Brisbane. Cape Byron, a heidland adjacent tae the toun, is the eastmaist point o mainland Australie. At the 2011 census, the toun haed a permanent population o 4,959.[1] The toun is in turn the nucleus o Byron Shire, which haed 29,209 residents.[2]
