Bate, Nova Gorica
Bate (pronounced [ˈbaːtɛ]; Italian: Battaglia della Bainsizza or Bainsizza San Lorenzo) is a veelage in wastren Slovenie in the Ceety Municipality o Nova Gorica.[1] It is located on the Banjšice Plateau. It is pairt o the Gorizia aurie of the wider tradeetional region o the Slovene Littoral, an is nou pairt of the Goriška Statistical Region. It includes the hamlets o Dolenji Konec, Gorenji Konec, Na Placu, an Breščaki in the main dounset, as well as Čafarini, Humarji, Sveto, Ježevec, Madoni, Jelaršče, Pičulini, Podlaka, Sedevčiči, an Čeferinovšče.[2]

The veelage wis greatly affectit bi the First Warld War acause Italian forces passed throu Bate tae reach the Banjšice Plateau. A memorial plaque in the hamlet o Sveto commemorates the Italian advance. Mony tradeetional Littoral-style hooses wur damagit durin the war, but wur renovatit efterwairds. The veelage is the steid o a abandoned Austro-Hungarian militar cemetery conteenin the remains o aboot 5,000 sodgers in unmarkit graves. Durin the Seicont Warld War a Pairtisan courier service wis active in the veelage.[2]
