Yoichiro Nambu (南部 陽一郎, Nambu Yōichirō, 18 Januar 1921 – 5 Julie 2015) wis a Japanese-born American physicist, a professor at the Varsity o Chicago.[1] Kent for his contreibutions tae the field o theoretical physics, he wis awairdit hauf o the Nobel Prize in Physics in 2008 for the discovery in 1960 o the mechanism o spontaneous broken symmetry in subatomic physics, relatit at first tae the strang interaction's chiral symmetry an later tae the electroweak interaction an Higgs mechanism.[2]
