Sokal Raion
Sokal Raion (Ukrainian: Сокальський район, Sokal’s’kyi raion) is a raion (destrict) o Lviv Oblast (province) in wastren Ukraine. Its admeenistrative centre is the ceety o Sokal. It haes a population o 98,123 as o the 2001 Ukrainian Census.[2]

The Sokal Raion haes a tot o 106 populatit dounsets: fower are ceeties subordinate tae the raion admeenistration, includin Belz, Velyki Mosty, Sokal, an Uhniv; ane urban-teep dounset, Zhvyrka; an 101 veelages.[2]
The raion borders Poland tae the wast, Volyn Oblast tae the north, an Lviv Oblast's Radekhiv Raion tae the east, an the Kamianka-Buzka an Zhovkva Raions tae the sooth.
The raion wis established in 1939[2] wi the annexation o Wastren Ukraine tae the Ukrainian Soviet Socialist Republic. In 1951, the raion's admeenistration wis expandit tae include territories cedit frae the Lublin Voivodship o the Fowkrepublic o Poland durin the 1951 Polish–Soviet territorial exchynge. Durin the transfer, the ceeties o Bełz, Uhnów, Krystynopol, an Waręż wur transferred tae Ukraine.[3]
