Afore that, he wis a educator fur the University o Wyoming i the 1990-1991 schuil yeir, the Lutheran campus pastor fur the University o Wyoming in Laramie, Wyoming, fae 1989 til 1991, an the assistant pastor at Wheat Ridge Lutheran Church in Wheat Ridge, Colorado, fae 1987 til 1989.[1]
In July 2019, Ferry published his first buik, a memoir cried Faith in the Freshman: A Story of Hopes and Hoops that recoonts his formative years, includin his time as a basketbaw player at whit he describit as ane o the worst college basketbaw programs in the kintra, St. John's College in Winfield, Kansas, the airly formation o his Lutheran faith; an his experiences as a father an college presses.[2]

Ferry earned his bachelor's degree fae St. John's College in Winfield, Kansas in 1981. He completit his M.Div. fae Concordia Theological Seminary in Fort Wayne, Indiana in 1987. He earned a Ph.D. in European history fae the University of Colorado Boulder in 1996 anaw.[1]
Ferry is the boord chairman fur the Lutheran Educational Conference of North America an a memmer o the boord o the Wisconsin Foondation o Independent Colleges. Ferry alsae is the vice presses o the Concordia University System o the LCMS.[1]
