Jeollanam-do, is a province in the soothwast o the Republic o Korea. The province wis formit in 1896 frae the soothren hauf o the umwhile Jeolla province, remained a province o Korea till the kintra's diveesion in 1945, then became pairt o the Republic o Korea. Gwangju wis the caipital o the province, till the provincial office muivit tae the soothren veelage o Namak, Muan County in 2005.

The province is pairt o the Honam region, an is bundit on the wast bi the Yellae Sea, on the north bi Jeollabuk-do Province, on the sooth bi Jeju Strait, an on the east bi Gyeongsangnam-do.

There are amaist 2,000 islands alang the coastline, aboot three quairters o which are uninhabitit. The coastline is aboot 6,100 kilometre (3,800 mi) lang. Some o the marine products, in pairticular oyster an seaweed cultivation, are leadin in Sooth Korea.

The province is anerlie pairtially muntainous. The plains alang the rivers Seomjin, Yeongsan and Tamjin create a lairge granary. There is abundant rainfaw in the aurie, which helps agricultur.
