Deutsch: „Das Gemeindewappen zeigt in geteiltem Felde: Oben in Silber (Weiß) einen roten Bergischen Löwen, im unteren Teil auf grünem Hügel einen rot bewehrten schwarzen Hahn, der von zwei blauen Fischen in gelbem (goldenem) Felde flankiert wird.“ Das Wappen beruht auf einem Schöffensiegel des Jahres 1627, das in der Gemeinde gefunden wurde. Deutet der Löwe auf die alte Landesherrschaft der Herzöge von Berg, ist der untere Bildteil auf den Ort zu beziehen. Neben dem Fischreichtum (Forellen) soll mit dem Hahn die Wachsamkeit der Schöffen symbolisiert werden.
English: „The upper part shows the lion of Berg, as the area belonged historically to the county of Berg. The lower part shows the fish as a symbol for the fisheries, whereas the rooster is a symbol for the alertness of the local council. The arms are based on the seal of the village from 1627.“
