Descreeption

This is the view facing south from the entrance to the Women's Center's compound. The statue at the end of the street is of Paul Bogle, key Jamaican freedom fighter. The courthouse itself is a rebuild version of the once burned down in the Bogle-led Morant Bay Rebellion of 1857. The statue itself, by Edna Manley, was installed in 1967 at an important post-independence celebration. Look for the photograph of its installation, also in this set.

Update: The courthouse has since burned again, due to faulty electrical wiring.
