The aulder Cronquist seestem anly includit fower faimilies (Betulaceae, Corylaceae, Fagaceae, Ticodendraceae; Corylaceae nou bein includit within Betulaceae); this arrangement is follaeed bi, for insaumple, the Warld checklist o selectit plant faimilies (see freemit airtin belaw). The ither faimilies wur split intae three different orders, placed amang the Hamamelidae. The Casuarinales comprised the single faimily Casuarinaceae, the Juglandales comprised the Juglandaceae an Rhoipteleaceae, an the Myricales comprised the remainin fairms (plus Balanops). The chynge is due tae studies suggestin the Myricales, sae defined, are paraphyletic tae the ither twa groups.
