El Kef (Arabic: الكاف‎, an aa transliteratit as Al-Kāf or Le Kef) is a ceety in northwastren Tunisie. It is the caipital o the Kef Govrenorate. Its name at the time o the Roman Empire was Sicca Veneria.[1]

The auld toun is built on the cliff face o the table-top Jebel Dyr muntain. El Kef wis the provisional caipital o Tunisie durin Warld War II. It wis the command centre o the FLN (Front de Libération Nationale) durin the Algerian War o Unthirldom against the French in the 1950s. It haes a population o 45,191 (2004 census).
