In 1857, the aurie wis incorporatit intae the Federal Destrict when this destrict wis expandit. In 1928, the burgh wis creatit when the Federal Destrict wis dividit intae saxteen burghs. The urban sprawl o Mexico Ceety reached the burgh in the mid 20t century, turnin ferms, umwhile loch an forests intae developit auries, but mony o the umwhile veelages hae kept their oreeginal layoots, plazas an narrae streets an hae conservit structur biggit frae the 16t tae the early 20t centuries. This haes made the burgh o Coyoacan, especially its historic centre a popular place tae visit on weekends.
